A headmaster, Rajesh Kumar Thakur, has been murdered in the Sakatpur police station area of Darbhanga district, Bihar. Police have arrested teacher Rukmani Kumari and her husband, Abhilash Kumar, in connection with the case. The arrests were made from their home in Baurwa, Baheri. The incident occurred on Thursday evening when Thakur was ambushed near the Sanskrit school while going to the primary school in Kanakpur North. The assailant, who arrived on a motorcycle, shot Thakur in the abdomen with a country-made pistol. Local residents rushed him to a local clinic before he was later transferred to DMCH and eventually to Paras Global Hospital in Darbhanga, where he died. The investigation revealed that Thakur and Rukmani Kumari, who taught at the same school, were involved in a love affair. Rukmani, already married with children, wanted to marry Thakur, but he refused. Thakur subsequently transferred to a school near Madhubani to create distance. The authorities say that the couple often fought due to the relationship. The police investigation also revealed that Rukmani and her husband visited the school before the murder. The SDPO Benipur confirmed that an FIR has been filed, and legal procedures are underway. Police are conducting raids to apprehend other suspects and expose the entire criminal network involved in the murder.
