The Bihar cabinet has given the go-ahead for the construction of two five-star hotels in Rajgir, Nalanda district, and a five-star resort in Vaishali district. These projects, slated to be built under the PPP model, aim to provide better quality lodging for visitors to these regions. The tourism department’s plans involve constructing two hotels on 10 acres of land near Mela Maidan in Rajgir and a resort on 10 acres at the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Memorial Stupa in Vaishali. The construction and operation of these facilities will comply with the Infrastructure Development Enabling (Amendment) Act, 2023. Private developers will be granted land on a lease basis for construction. The government believes these developments will enhance the overall tourist experience. Other decisions included doubling the State Teacher Award amount, reducing fees for preliminary and main exams, and approving the 2026 holiday calendar. Furthermore, the cabinet sanctioned funds for road construction and designated the birth anniversary of Upendra Nath Verma as a state function.
