Bihar is gearing up to fill 1800 vacant positions for assistant professors in its medical colleges, with the recruitment process slated to begin in the next two to two and a half months. Health Minister Mangal Pandey made the announcement during a ceremony where appointment letters were given to 694 newly appointed senior medical officers and medical officers. The event took place at the Urja Auditorium. This move also ensures that government doctors will be posted at locations of their preference. The state government has recently distributed appointment letters to approximately 1400 doctors in a record-breaking ten-day period. Officials like Pratyay Amrit, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, were also present. The state is also conducting recruitment for Ayush doctors, and a significant number of ANM nurses have already been appointed. Further, the government plans to recruit 4500 Community Health Officers (CHOs) in the coming months. Minister Pandey thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for their backing in bolstering Bihar’s healthcare system. He underscored the government’s commitment to providing ample funding. He emphasized that healthcare professionals should serve patients with complete dedication, discipline and empathy. Pratyay Amrit, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, extended a warm welcome to the new doctors, encouraging them to serve with compassion and mentioned the need to prevent incidents like the one at PMCH. He also commended the development of Bihar’s healthcare infrastructure and congratulated the Health Minister.
