A scandal has erupted at Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University in Bihar, as students have reportedly been given fake marksheets and certificates. The students are facing significant difficulties as a result, including the inability to secure employment or pursue further studies. They are desperately seeking help but finding little support.
This university, known for its controversies, is once again in the spotlight. The current issue revolves around the proliferation of fake marksheets. Allegations suggest that these forged documents are being sold to students in exchange for money. The initial exposure of this scam came from a student associated with the university, leading to a series of complaints.
A major revelation involved the examination department staff’s role in selling fraudulent marksheets and admit cards. This affected approximately 24 to 36 students, with fees ranging from 4,000 to 20,000 rupees.
Following the exposure of the scandal, Vice-Chancellor Professor Jawaharlal took action by visiting the administrative building and reprimanding staff and the examination controller. Evidence of irregularities was discovered in employees’ mobile phones, and an order was issued to file an FIR. However, apart from the suspension of one employee, Sanjay Kumar, no further measures have been taken. Meanwhile, students with fake marksheets are left in a precarious situation, seeking assistance from various officials, including the Vice-Chancellor and local MLAs, but without any apparent progress.
MLA Ajit Sharma of Bhagalpur has written to the education department and Raj Bhavan, requesting a high-level inquiry to investigate and punish the responsible individuals. Letters have also been sent to Raj Bhavan and the Education Minister, seeking their intervention.
