A series of fire-related incidents disrupted the journey of the Jan Shatabdi Express, traveling from Patna to Howrah. The train encountered a wheel fire at a railway station, which was addressed. Shortly after resuming its journey, smoke was again observed coming from the wheels, prompting immediate concern among passengers.
The initial fire occurred near the Rajla railway station, causing a delay. Passengers, fearing for their safety, reacted with alarm. The train was able to proceed after the fire was extinguished, but the journey was soon interrupted again.
Between Rajla and Simultala stations, a distance of about 15 kilometers, smoke was seen emanating from the train’s wheel again, leading to a halt before the Simultala railway station. Passengers were evacuated as a precaution. Railway officials explained that the issue was due to brake binding. Brake binding occurs when the brakes fail to fully disengage after being applied, leading to friction and potential overheating.
