
The protests in Nepal have transformed into a volatile situation. The demonstrations by young people continue despite the restriction of internet media. In response to the ongoing unrest in Nepal, the state of Bihar has increased its security measures. The six districts in Bihar that share a border with Nepal are on high alert, with both police and security agencies monitoring the situation.
The international borders of West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, and Kishanganj, the six Bihar districts bordering Nepal, have been closed. This action followed directives from the Bihar Police Headquarters. Tourism has been put on hold, with a complete ban on tourists entering or exiting. Local residents are being thoroughly checked before being permitted to cross the border.
Patrols are being conducted near border outposts and villages.
The Border Security Force (BSF), the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and other security and intelligence agencies have been placed on high alert by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Police Headquarters has alerted the district magistrates and police superintendents of the border districts, asking them to coordinate with the adjacent districts. The police and SSB are conducting patrols along the border posts and villages.
Police and SSB personnel have received specific instructions.
Intelligence units are carefully monitoring all developments in Nepal near the border. The police and SSB personnel have been instructed to be prepared for any adverse circumstances. The Police Headquarters’ control room is continuously receiving reports from the superintendents of police of the border districts. The authorities will facilitate the evacuation of any Indian citizens who might be stuck in the border area of Nepal.
ADG (Law and Order) Pankaj Kumar Darad confirmed that the international border has been sealed until the situation in Nepal stabilizes. The entry and exit of tourists have been completely prohibited.
