
As Bihar prepares for assembly elections, the Nitish Kumar government continues to make significant policy announcements. Following the recent increase in journalists’ pensions, the government has unveiled a new initiative concerning sanitation workers. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered the formation of the Bihar State Sanitation Workers Commission. This decision was communicated through a post on the social media platform X.
The commission will focus on the rights, welfare, and social advancement of sanitation workers. It will also be responsible for addressing complaints and monitoring welfare programs. The commission will consist of a chairman, a vice-chairman, and five members. Notably, one of the members will be a woman or a transgender person, demonstrating the government’s commitment to inclusivity. The commission’s objective is to integrate marginalized sanitation workers into mainstream society and promote their socio-economic progress. In related news, the government has announced free electricity up to 125 units for all domestic consumers from August 1, 2025, benefiting approximately 1.67 crore households across the state.
