A severe flood crisis is unfolding in Odisha, primarily impacting Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts due to relentless rainfall. The Subarnarekha River has surged past the danger level at Rajghat, leading to the submergence of numerous villages and displacement of residents. Bhograi block in Balasore is severely affected, with over 30 villages underwater. The Jalaka river is also close to breaching its danger level. Authorities have evacuated over 2,900 people as farmlands are inundated. In Mayurbhanj, widespread flooding has caused extensive damage, with homes submerged and residents struggling. Sundargarh district is also grappling with disruptions. The Brahmani River’s rising waters pose a further threat.
