Due to the onset of the monsoon, Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Mayurbhanj, Odisha, will be closed to visitors starting from July 1st. Access to eco-tourism locations within the park, including Jamuani, Gudagudia, Kumari, Barehipani, and Ramatritha, will still be permitted. The reopening date of the national park will be communicated later through local newspapers. The decision to close the park is related to the expected disruption of road conditions during the rainy season. The reserve spans an area of 2,750 square kilometers and is a habitat for 42 mammal species, 242 bird varieties, 30 reptile species, various plant species, and 96 types of orchids. In the year 2024-2025, Similipal attracted 38,483 tourists, generating revenue from various activities. STR was declared a National Park by the state government in April.
