The inclusion of two Pakistani women on Bihar’s voter list in Bhagalpur has initiated an investigation into how this occurred. The women are believed to have come to India about 70 years ago. The Ministry of Home Affairs’ investigation, launched to identify foreigners with expired visas, revealed the presence of the women on the voter list. Imrana Khanam and Firdousia Khanam were found to have voter ID cards, and they were also verified during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, which occurred before the 2025 assembly elections. The authorities are now looking into the circumstances of their inclusion on the electoral rolls.
