
The capital of Bihar, Patna, is in turmoil following the murder of a 10-year-old girl. The incident has resulted in widespread anger among the victim’s family and the local community. On Thursday afternoon, villagers engaged in arson and road blockades on the Danapur-Maner main road near the Mahinwa village. They barricaded the road using bricks and drums, causing major traffic disruptions. While the police are working to calm the family and the villagers, the family is demanding action against the alleged perpetrators.
Specifically, the body of the 10-year-old girl was found hanging from a tree in Maner. City SP West Bhanu Pratap, along with a forensic team, arrived at the scene to launch an investigation. The girl resided in Maner Azad Nagar and had been missing since August 26th. A missing person complaint had been lodged at the Maner police station.
The family stated the girl had gone to gather wood in the west Mahinwa garden of Ratan Tola village on August 26th but did not return. Extensive searches were carried out, but she was not found. A missing person report was then filed at the Maner police station, prompting a police search.
On Thursday, the girl’s body was discovered hanging from a tree in the garden. The location is an isolated mango orchard with standing water. Upon the discovery of the body, a large crowd of villagers and family members converged at the site. Deeply distressed after seeing the body, the family and villagers blocked the Danapur-Maner main road near the Mahinwa village, setting fires and expressing their belief that the girl was also sexually assaulted.
City SP West Bhanu Pratap Singh confirmed that the body of a 10-year-old girl had been recovered from a garden in Mahinwa, Maner. Initial findings indicate the girl was murdered and her body was hanged from a tree. Police will investigate whether sexual assault occurred.
