
The much-awaited metro service in Patna is set to commence on October 6th. The inauguration of the Patna Metro will take place soon. Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, will perform the inauguration. The initial phase will introduce a 9-kilometer segment of the Red Line, connecting three stations.
The stations to be served are ISBT, Zero Mile, and Bhootnath. The Patna Metro Rail Corporation has received the green light from the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner for metro operations. The Urban Development Department subsequently announced October 6th as the launch date. The metro has successfully completed its trial runs and will operate at 40 km/h. The initial metro service will utilize three bogies.
**Cultural Showcase on Wheels**
The metro coaches will offer a glimpse into the art, culture, and knowledge of Bihar. The coaches are labelled ‘Patna Metro’ and are adorned with depictions of iconic landmarks such as Patna’s Golghar, the Mahavir Temple, and Madhubani paintings, among other cultural and artistic elements. The three-bogie metro trains will have a capacity for 1000 passengers. There will be seating for 138 passengers, with standing room for 900 more.
**Enhanced Safety and Security**
Each bogie in the Patna Metro will feature 360-degree CCTV cameras. Moreover, emergency buttons and microphones will be installed in every coach, facilitating direct communication with the driver. The Patna Metro represents a major advancement for Bihar, offering a substantial positive impact on Patna’s traffic situation and transportation infrastructure. The metro is expected to provide considerable relief from traffic congestion.
