The preparations for Ravana Dahan at Gandhi Maidan in Patna were interrupted by rain. The sky was overcast with dark clouds, leading to heavy rainfall, which soaked the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad, which were also equipped with fireworks. The rain caused the effigies to become so wet that Ravana’s head separated before the burning could take place.
The rain also reduced the enthusiasm of the people. The rain was a setback for the people who had come to see the Dusshera fair at Gandhi Maidan. People were seen running around looking for shelter from the rain. Ravana Dahan is organized every year on the occasion of Vijayadashami at Gandhi Maidan, but this year the rain spoiled the excitement of the people.
