Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the State Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative Union Limited for women in Bihar, a program he introduced via video conferencing. During this event, he addressed the Congress and RJD, expressing his disappointment over the abuse directed at his mother from their political stage, an act which he said saddened every mother in Bihar.
He elaborated on the new initiative, which aims to provide financial support to women in Bihar, particularly those involved in the Jeevika program. He emphasized the digital platform for Jeevika Nidhi, facilitating easy access to funds.
PM Modi also highlighted the significance of women in India’s development and stressed the importance of easing their burdens. He referred to various government projects like the construction of toilets, homes under the PM Awas Yojana, and the free ration scheme, all aimed at supporting women and families. He also discussed programs such as Lakhpati Didi, Drone Didi, and Bank Sakhi, aimed at increasing women’s income. He saw these as important steps in serving mothers and sisters. He added that the NDA government would enhance these efforts in the following months.
Regarding the respect for mothers, PM Modi pointed out Bihar’s long-standing reverence for mothers, especially with the upcoming Navratri festival, where the nine forms of the goddess are celebrated. He stressed that the government prioritizes the dignity and respect of mothers.
He also shared, “The mindset that abuses the mother, the mindset that abuses the sister, considers women to be weak. This mindset considers women to be objects of exploitation and oppression.”
PM Modi then spoke directly about the abuse that his mother had received from the RJD-Congress platform in Bihar. He mentioned that this act was an insult to all mothers, sisters, and daughters in the country. He shared that the people of Bihar understood his sorrow. He mentioned his long career of public service, supported by his mother.
He then said: “These ‘yuvraaj’ born in royal families cannot understand the ‘tapasya’ of a poor mother and the pain of her son. They were born with a silver spoon in their mouth. They think that the power of the country and of Bihar is the legacy”
PM Modi criticized the incident, asking what wrong his mother, who has passed away and had no involvement in politics, had done to deserve such insults. He contended that the derogatory comments were aimed at millions of mothers and sisters. He stated that those born into privilege cannot understand the hardships of a poor mother. He added that they treat power as their personal legacy. He encouraged people to seek answers from the RJD-Congress leaders.
