The political climate in Bihar is heating up as the state prepares for the upcoming assembly elections. A significant development is unfolding, with reports suggesting that Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, a prominent MLA from the Janata Dal United (JDU), is likely to switch allegiance and join the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Dr. Kumar, considered a vocal figure within the JDU, is believed to have already met with Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition, sparking widespread speculation. The MLA from Parbatta, Khagaria, has been displaying signs of discontent within the JDU for a period. The shift is expected to occur before the elections. Sources suggest that Dr. Sanjeev Kumar will be joining the RJD soon.
A formal induction ceremony, with Tejashwi Yadav in attendance, is expected to be held on October 3rd in Gogri, Khagaria. This event will likely mark Dr. Kumar’s official entry into the RJD. Dr. Kumar’s dissatisfaction with the JDU’s leadership has been evident, with some of his recent statements criticizing the top leadership. He was also a point of discussion when CM Nitish Kumar switched to the NDA last year in January.
Dr. Sanjeev had also been questioned by the EOU related to the alleged buying and selling of MLAs. Dr. Sanjeev is considered a strong figure in the Parbatta area, and his potential move to the RJD could provide an advantage for the RJD, especially by attracting support from the Bhumihar community.
