A political controversy has erupted in Bihar following the alleged use of offensive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a Congress rally. In response, BJP supporters, including Legislative Council member Surendra Choudhary, used a picture of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as a step during a protest. Choudhary justified this action, stating that Rahul Gandhi’s behavior warranted it and even mentioned plans to use the photo for other purposes. The comments followed the use of inappropriate language towards PM Modi and his late mother.
The BJP organized a march to protest the offensive remarks made during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Rights Yatra.’ This led to confrontations at the Congress headquarters. The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha stated that truth would ultimately prevail. The person allegedly responsible for the derogatory language was arrested. BJP workers marched to the Sadaqat Ashram, the state Congress headquarters, which resulted in clashes with Congress members.
Nitin Naveen, a state minister, led the march, asserting that they would not accept insults to PM Modi and demanding apologies. Rahul Gandhi responded indirectly, emphasizing the power of truth and non-violence. He affirmed their commitment to defending truth and the constitution.
Congress General Secretary Sachin Pilot condemned the offensive language but argued against associating the incident with the Congress and the INDIA alliance. He condemned the attack on their state headquarters and called for government action. He implied that the BJP’s reaction stemmed from the success of the Voter Rights Yatra.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) spokesperson Manoj Jha criticized the incident but questioned the BJP’s history of apologizing for similar comments made by its own leaders. He accused the BJP of using the situation for publicity.
K.C. Venugopal, Congress General Secretary (Organization), accused the BJP of attempting to intimidate them. He condemned the attack on the party’s Patna office as a cowardly act and demanded strict action from the Bihar police.
