Priyanka Gandhi, a Congress General Secretary and MP, held a discussion with women in Bihar, during which she launched a strong criticism against the central and state governments. Gandhi’s remarks were focused on the NDA government’s Mahila Rozgar Yojana, which was launched before the Bihar Assembly elections. This scheme provided financial aid of 10,000 rupees to the women of the state. Gandhi questioned the implications of offering such an amount, asking whether it was reflective of the true value of their lives.
She highlighted the diverse struggles each woman faces, urging them to transform these struggles into strength. She pledged that the Congress party would work to protect their dignity, and promised 25 lakh rupees in insurance for women in Bihar. Gandhi emphasized the critical role women play, bearing the societal burden.
Gandhi encouraged women to acknowledge their inherent power, noting that political parties recognize their influence and are offering financial assistance due to the need for their support. She told them to recognize their dignity and to send a message to those offering 10,000 rupees, implying the Bihar government does not respect them.
She further stressed the necessity of electing a new government focused on justice and dignity. Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s efforts, she noted his work for social justice across the nation to uplift women. She urged women to consider the upcoming election and to vote against the current Nitish Kumar and BJP government, as a new government is required for justice and respect.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana just before the Bihar elections. The scheme transferred 10,000 rupees directly into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women in Bihar, resulting in an expenditure of 7500 crore rupees. The Congress party has criticized the NDA, accusing them of using this scheme for electoral gains and devaluing the dignity of women by offering a small sum.
