The Indian Railways has introduced a beneficial development for individuals traveling from Kishanganj to Amritsar. Passengers now have the option of a direct train to Amritsar from Kishanganj, providing greater ease of travel. This new route marks the second direct train to Amritsar from Kishanganj, following the Ajmer route. Alongside the direct service, six additional special trains will also be running through Kishanganj. This railway initiative is driven by the anticipation of increased passenger traffic during the festive season, intending to improve passenger convenience.
In anticipation of a significant surge in travelers in late September and early October, the Northeast Frontier Railway is set to operate seven pairs of extra festive special trains via Kishanganj to manage the expected high volume of passengers and facilitate comfortable travel. The Kishanganj-Amritsar train (05734/05733) will commence its services on October 2, running between Kishanganj and Amritsar. This train will complete seven round trips in each direction, operating from October 2 to October 15.
Other trains include Shalimar-Rangapara North-Shalimar train (08047/08048) which will operate from September 19 to October 4, with a total of three trips. The Howrah-Lamding-Howrah train (03005/03006) will operate from September 26 to November 29, completing ten trips in each direction. The New Jalpaiguri-Gomti Nagar-New Jalpaiguri train (05742/05741) is scheduled to run from September 28 to November 3, with six trips in each direction. The Kolkata-New Jalpaiguri-Kolkata train (03129/03130) will operate from September 28 to November 24, with ten trips in each direction.
