In an important political move, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati has declared his support for independent candidates in the Bihar Assembly elections who commit to the protection of cows and oppose cow slaughter. The Shankaracharya announced this at a press conference in Purnia, initiating a ‘Sanatani’ political approach ahead of the elections. The ‘Gau Matadata Sankalp Yatra’ was also organized in Purnia. He highlighted that, despite the passage of seven decades and repeated promises, no political party has taken firm action against cow slaughter. He asserted that they will be voting for cow protection and the principles of Sanatan Dharma in the Bihar elections. He intends to support independent candidates in the state elections, but the names will be kept secret to avoid any potential issues with their candidacies. He also plans to field candidates in all 243 constituencies. He criticized political parties for failing to address the growing issue of cow abuse and urged voters to support candidates who oppose cow slaughter and work towards cow protection. He also pointed out an increase in beef exports, even during the NDA government’s term, and urged the central government to intervene.
