In a concerning incident, a truck collided with the convoy of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav in Vaishali, Bihar, on Saturday morning. The accident occurred near Goraul while Yadav was traveling back to Patna after a political gathering in Madhepura.
The convoy had paused on the Patna-Muzaffarpur highway around 12:30 AM for a tea break. While Tejashwi Yadav was a short distance away, the speeding truck crashed into the vehicles of his security detail. Thankfully, Yadav’s personal vehicle was not impacted, and he was unharmed.
The crash resulted in injuries to three security officials, who were immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Yadav visited the injured individuals to check on their condition following the accident. They are now reported to be in stable condition, though they sustained serious bruises and minor fractures.
The truck driver was apprehended by local police at the scene, and the vehicle was taken into custody. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Initial findings point to potential factors like speeding or driver fatigue, but a thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause.
The event has reignited discussions about the security of political figures during long-distance travel on Bihar’s roads, especially during late-night hours. RJD supporters expressed their relief on social media, while others called for increased road safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
Party leaders have called for a comprehensive examination of VIP security procedures, particularly focusing on road travel under conditions of reduced visibility.
Tejashwi Yadav, known for his demanding political schedule and extensive travel throughout Bihar, has returned to his regular activities and reassured his supporters of his well-being.
