The political landscape in Bihar is charged due to the Election Commission’s recent review of the voter list, particularly the special intensive revision (SIR). The controversy gained momentum when Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, disputed his inclusion in the voter list, a claim that the Election Commission dismissed. Subsequently, allegations emerged that Yadav held two voter ID cards, prompting the Election Commission to take action by issuing a notice.
Specifically, Yadav is accused of possessing two voter ID cards, labeled RAB0456228 and RAB2916120. He alluded to the RAB2916120 card during a press conference. The Election Commission has since clarified that this card was not officially sanctioned. The situation now calls for an examination of potential legal repercussions for Yadav, including possible penalties.
