The upcoming 2025 Assembly elections in Bihar are under scrutiny as allegations of irregularities surface regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Electoral Roll. Concerns have been raised regarding the inclusion of deceased individuals and the omission of living citizens from the voter list. Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD’s CM candidate, has alleged that his name is missing from the draft voter list. He stated that he completed the enumeration form during the electoral roll revision. The Janata Dal (United) responded, accusing Tejashwi of misleading the public. Tejashwi, at a press conference in Patna, said, “My name is not in the electoral roll. How will I contest the elections?” He also highlighted that his information was not found even after entering his EPIC number. The Patna district administration clarified that Tejashwi’s name is registered but his polling station and serial number have been altered. Tejashwi raised concerns about potential manipulation of voter data. JDU’s spokesperson, Neeraj Kumar, called Tejashwi a “political fraud.” The Election Commission refuted the claims, asserting that Tejashwi’s name is included in the draft electoral roll. This has escalated the already tense political atmosphere. The draft electoral roll has been made public, and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll is the ongoing voter list verification process in Bihar, which is preparing for its upcoming polls this year.
