
A woman in Banka, Bihar, was murdered by her husband with the involvement of another woman. The body was subsequently buried. Police responded to the scene and, with the assistance of villagers, recovered the body, which was then sent for a post-mortem. The deceased has been identified as 34-year-old Savitri Devi.
The incident occurred in Amjora village, within the jurisdiction of the Anandpur police station. On Wednesday, a family dispute led to the husband and his second wife killing the first wife. Following the murder, they buried the body in sand near a river and fled the scene, causing a local uproar. Police have taken the second wife, Pooja Devi, into custody, while the husband remains at large.
Relatives of the deceased claimed Savitri Devi’s life became miserable with the arrival of the second wife. They reported frequent disputes and physical abuse. The family alleges the husband and the second wife murdered Savitri after a disagreement and buried her body in the riverbed.
The deceased was struggling financially and worked as a laborer. She had a 14-year-old son, Brahmadev Das. Her family arrived at the scene upon receiving news of the incident, and they mourned. They claim that after Pooja Devi’s arrival, the husband neglected Savitri and subjected her to abuse.
The local community gathered after hearing of the murder. The deceased’s family has requested strong action against the husband and the second wife, stating it was not only a murder but also a case of prolonged mistreatment. The police are currently investigating based on the family’s complaint and are searching for the absconding suspect.
