
Voters in Bihar are heading to the polls for the first phase of the state Assembly elections, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasizing the importance of exercising the right to vote. His directive, ‘Pehle matadan, phir jalpan,’ resonated as a strong reminder for citizens to prioritize their democratic duty.
The Prime Minister’s message, disseminated via X, urged all voters participating in this crucial first phase to cast their ballots with full zeal. He expressed particular commendation for the state’s young voters embarking on their electoral journey for the first time, encouraging them to participate actively. In this significant first phase, 3.75 crore voters across 18 districts will cast their votes to decide the fate of 1,314 candidates. The polling process, which began at 7 am and will end at 5 pm, has seen extensive security measures, including the deployment of central forces, to ensure the integrity of the elections. Notable candidates include Tejashwi Yadav, the INDIA bloc’s CM nominee, and Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary from the BJP.
