The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated disciplinary measures by suspending former Union Minister RK Singh and two prominent Bihar party members, MLC Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Katihar Mayor Usha Agarwal, for alleged anti-party activities. Singh, a former Union Power Minister and seasoned bureaucrat, had been a vocal critic of alleged corruption and infighting within the NDA. He also raised serious questions about the Election Commission’s ability to ensure security during the Bihar elections, citing the violence in Mokama as a failure of the administration and the electoral body. Singh had publicly urged voters to reject candidates with criminal pasts, including some within the ruling alliance. This suspension reflects the party’s resolve to enforce discipline. In a parallel action, the Bihar BJP suspended Ashok Kumar Agarwal and Usha Agarwal due to the controversial decision to field their son, Saurav Agarwal, as a VIP candidate from Katihar. The couple has been given a week to submit their explanations, underscoring the party’s stringent post-election disciplinary stance.
