The BJP, through its Kerala unit head, Rajiv Chandrasekhar, has distanced itself from the threatening statement made by party spokesperson Printu Mahadevan against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Chandrasekhar clarified that the BJP does not support Mahadevan’s remarks, which were made during a live TV debate. He stressed that the BJP’s political approach centers on development and does not involve personal rivalries. The party, Chandrasekhar stated, does not condone such actions, viewing Mahadevan’s statement as a regrettable expression.
Chandrasekhar highlighted that the BJP is committed to a political landscape focused on ideology and progress. He emphasized the party’s dedication to a politics of action and clarified that they do not engage in politics based on personal vendettas. The remarks by Mahadevan occurred on September 26 during a TV debate about protests in Bangladesh and Nepal. Mahadevan threatened Rahul Gandhi, stating that he would be shot. The Congress responded with outrage, leading to protests and a letter to the Home Minister. Mahadevan was arrested and released on bail, prompting the Congress to accuse the Kerala government of inaction and allege a secret alliance between the ruling party and the BJP.
