Kangana Ranaut, a BJP MP, commented on the Constitution Club of India elections, noting the unusual dynamic of a BJP versus BJP contest, which she found confusing, especially as a newer member. The election focused on the secretary position, with the incumbent, seven-time MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, challenged by former MP Sanjeev Balyan. Rudy had held the post unchallenged for a quarter-century. The results were scheduled to be announced by 5 PM. This was the fourth time the club held elections, following similar events in 2009, 2014 and 2019.
The election saw participation from a wide array of current and former Members of Parliament from both ruling and opposition parties. Prominent figures like Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Sonia Gandhi cast their votes. The voter turnout was exceptionally high, with over 500 votes cast, exceeding previous election numbers. Polling took place from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, a BJP candidate, described the election as apolitical, highlighting its role as a platform for MPs and former MPs. Rajiv Pratap Rudy shared his view that the election was inclusive of all political parties, celebrating the democratic process and widespread participation.
