
CDS General Anil Chauhan addressed key security challenges facing India, emphasizing the threats posed by nuclear-armed adversaries and the unresolved border disputes with China. He identified these as significant concerns during his address in Gorakhpur. He also mentioned Pakistan’s ongoing proxy war and its strategy of continuously harming India as another major challenge. In addition, regional instability and the need to prepare for the future of warfare were highlighted as pressing concerns for the nation.
General Chauhan asserted the necessity of preparing for conventional warfare due to the threats from nuclear-armed adversaries. He also addressed Operation Sindoor, where the armed forces were fully empowered to retaliate against the Pahalgam terrorist attack and curb cross-border terrorism. The operation targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the April 22 attack.
A seminar on national security challenges was held at the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, attended by CDS Anil Chauhan and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The seminar is an annual event to commemorate the death anniversaries of Mahant Digvijay Nath and Mahant Avaidyanath.
CDS Chauhan stated that the border dispute with China is a significant challenge, followed by Pakistan’s proxy war as the second largest threat. He added that Pakistan’s strategy is to continually harm India. He also said that regional instability is a third major challenge, with many neighboring countries facing unrest. He also discussed the evolving nature of warfare, which will extend beyond land, air, and water, to include space, cyber, and electromagnetic fields. He pointed out the challenge of dealing with nuclear-armed adversaries and the effect of technology on future warfare.
