As part of the ongoing Central Vista project, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will move from the historic South Block to the newly built Executive Enclave in the coming month. The Executive Enclave, which is a short distance from the existing complex, has been developed to house various high-level government departments, including the PMO, Cabinet Secretariat, National Security Council Secretariat, and a modern conference facility. The new location offers the advantage of being closer to the Prime Minister’s residence. The shift is prompted by the limitations of the current buildings, originally constructed during British rule, which lack sufficient space and modern infrastructure. At the inauguration of Kartavya Bhawan-3, where the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Personnel now reside, the Prime Minister acknowledged the drawbacks of the older buildings. The new PMO might also be renamed to reflect the project’s goals. The Prime Minister expressed his intention to transform the PMO into a center of public service. The North and South Blocks, which have served as the primary administrative centers for eight decades, are set to become a public museum, the Yuge Yugen Bharat Museum. This museum, developed in collaboration with France Museums Development, will celebrate India’s cultural heritage, aiming to provide insights into the past, present, and future.
