Due to a weather warning, the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is temporarily suspended for a day. The Garhwal Division Commissioner, Vinay Shankar Pandey, issued the suspension order on Sunday, following the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The suspension is a safety precaution, given the high risk of landslides and flooding during periods of intense rain in the region. Pilgrims have been asked to halt at various points, including Haridwar, Rishikesh, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Sonprayag and Vikasnagar. The decision to resume the Yatra will be made after assessing weather conditions and ensuring the safety of travel routes. Continuous rainfall continues to cause disruptions, including road closures and landslides, affecting the transportation network. Authorities have initiated relief efforts and are closely monitoring the situation, advising pilgrims to await further announcements.
