
A devastating train accident near Bilaspur has tragically resulted in 11 deaths and left 20 passengers injured. The incident occurred Tuesday afternoon when a passenger train traveling from Gevra to Bilaspur allegedly failed to stop at a red signal, leading to a rear-end collision with a goods train.
The impact was catastrophic, with one of the passenger train’s coaches ending up perched on a wagon of the goods train. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has conveyed his condolences and announced significant financial support for the affected families. Compensation of ₹5 lakh will be provided to the kin of the deceased, and ₹50,000 will be given to each injured person, alongside free medical treatment.
Recovery and investigation operations are in full swing. Officials are committed to understanding the root cause of this unfortunate event. The railway authorities are actively engaged in providing necessary aid, including medical assistance and transportation, to all those impacted, ensuring continuous monitoring of their recovery progress.
