The process of verifying ration cards in Raigarh district has brought to light significant issues. A considerable number of beneficiaries, around 79,000, have their names on ration cards without corresponding Aadhaar seeding. These beneficiaries have been consistently receiving their ration allocations.
The Raigarh district encompasses 310,000 ration cardholders, serving 1,057,540 beneficiaries monthly. A state-led verification drive showed that roughly 79,247 beneficiaries hadn’t merged their Aadhaar details with their ration cards. Despite lacking thumbprint or iris verification, the ration allocation for these beneficiaries continues to be issued monthly under the head of the household’s name. Despite the Aadhaar seeding process being in effect for the past one and a half years, these integrations remain incomplete, leading to concerns about potential fraud among these beneficiaries.
