
In a meeting held in New Delhi, Amit Shah, the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, congratulated officials from Chhattisgarh for their key roles in the recent anti-Naxal operations, acknowledging the historical success. He reiterated the Modi government’s pledge to eliminate Naxalism in India. The event was attended by Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
On the social media platform X, Shah acknowledged the contributions of the officers involved in the anti-Naxal operations and expressed his eagerness to meet the soldiers who ensured the success of these missions, with a forthcoming visit to Chhattisgarh planned. The government is steadfast in its resolve to combat Naxalism.
The operations, overseen by the Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, involved the Chhattisgarh Police and DRG forces from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur. From May 18 to May 21, 2025, an operation was conducted in the Abujhmad region, resulting in a major encounter on May 21, 2025, in the forests of Boter village. During the encounter, 27 Naxals were killed, including Basavaraju alias Gaganna, the General Secretary of the CPI (Maoist), and a large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered.
Chhattisgarh’s police leadership, including DGP Arun Dev Gautam, ADG Vivekanand, IG Sundarraj, SP Prabhat Kumar, SP Jitendra Yadav, and SP Shalabh Singh, were honored by Minister Amit Shah for their contributions. Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka were among the senior officials present.
