
Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the temporary campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and the i-hub in Nava Raipur via video conferencing. The inauguration signifies a major step towards modernizing the criminal justice system in Chhattisgarh. The project includes the establishment of a permanent campus for NFSU and a central forensic science lab, with a total investment of ₹268 crore. From the 2025-26 academic year, the temporary campus will offer programs in forensic science, cyber security, digital forensics, and other professional diploma courses. Shah highlighted the advantages for Chhattisgarh and central India in terms of modern justice and crime investigation. New forensic technologies will become accessible locally, accelerating investigations. The launch of the i-hub aims to connect Chhattisgarh’s youth with the startup ecosystem, providing support for technical needs, funding, and professional services. Shah encouraged young people to become entrepreneurs and contribute to the state’s industrial development. He acknowledged the new government’s efforts, including MoUs worth ₹5 lakh crore. Shah praised Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Home Minister Vijay Sharma for their work in the fight against Naxalism, noting the increased activity of security forces even during the monsoon season. He appealed to Naxals to surrender. The permanent NFSU campus, slated for completion in three years, will provide extensive career opportunities. Shah discussed the implementation of the three new criminal laws and their goal of ensuring justice within three years through a modern, evidence-based system. Forensic investigations are now mandatory for offenses with sentences exceeding seven years. Shah also noted the nationwide establishment of NFSU campuses and emphasized the importance of forensic technology for India’s self-reliance. He highlighted the projected growth of the global forensic technology market.
