The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, will be in Chhattisgarh for a two-day visit on June 22nd and 23rd. The visit has a strong focus on reviewing security and accelerating development initiatives in the state. Shah will be inspecting central government projects, inaugurating key institutions, and conducting high-level meetings to review the state’s security situation, specifically concerning the ongoing anti-Naxal operations. The visit is considered vital, particularly given the government’s intensified efforts to combat Naxal activities. Key highlights include the inauguration of the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Raipur, which are aimed at improving the scientific capabilities in the investigation of criminal cases. A critical meeting involving Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and other high-ranking officials will assess the internal security situation in Chhattisgarh, with special attention to the progress of operations in Naxal-affected areas. Shah will also travel to Narayanpur district, a Naxal-affected area, to engage with security forces and review the developmental activities. This visit takes place as the central government is finalizing its strategy to eliminate Naxalism, in a context where there has been a reported reduction in Naxal incidents in states like Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha.
