
Mungeli district headquarters hosted a mass yoga session on International Yoga Day, with Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao leading the event. He participated in the yoga practice alongside MLA Punnu Lal Mohle and senior officials from the district administration. The event, themed “Yoga Sangam, Harit Yoga”, marked the 11th International Yoga Day and took place at the Adarsh Krishi Upaj Mandi complex in Mungeli. Yoga instructors Vivek Kesharwani and Purushottam Jaiswal guided participants through various yoga poses, including pranayama.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy CM Arun Sao stressed the importance of yoga for a healthy body and mind in today’s fast-paced world. He stated that yoga is key to a healthy, balanced, and disciplined life. He noted the increasing popularity of yoga and encouraged attendees to incorporate it into their daily routines for physical and mental well-being.
MLA Punnu Lal Mohle highlighted how yoga brings peace and self-satisfaction, and helps in staying away from various ailments. He also thanked the district administration for the grand Yoga Day celebration.
The event saw the participation of Mungeli Zila Panchayat President Shrikant Pandey, Collector Kundan Kumar, Superintendent of Police Bhojram Patel, Divisional Forest Officer Abhinav Kumar, Additional Collector Nishtha Pandey Tiwari, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat Prabhakar Pandey, Mungeli Municipal President Rohit Shukla, Vice President Jaiprakash Mishra, as well as other public representatives, prominent citizens, and students.
Following the yoga session, a tree-planting drive, part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, took place. Deputy CM Arun Sao planted a Bahera sapling to promote environmental conservation, themed as “Water, Forest, People, a Natural Management”. He appreciated the initiative and encouraged the public to plant more trees. MLA Punnu Lal Mohle planted a Peepal tree, and Zila Panchayat President Shrikant Pandey planted a Bahera sapling to encourage tree plantation.
