
Raipur, A one-day divisional judicial seminar was organized by the Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy for the judicial officers of Bastar division at Prerna Hall, Collectorate Bhawan, Jagdalpur. 43 judicial officers from four districts of Bastar division, Jagdalpur, Kanker, Dantewada, Kondagaon, participated in this seminar.
Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court, Shri Ramesh Sinha and Chief Patron, Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy inaugurated the session through virtual medium. Shri Amitendra Kishore Prasad, Judge, Chhattisgarh High Court, Portfolio Judge, District Kanker was also present in the seminar.
Addressing the judicial officers of Bastar division, the Chief Justice said that expectations from the judiciary are very high in today’s time. People have high expectations from us. This seminar is not only a platform for learning, but also an affirmation of our collective commitment to justice, impartiality and the rule of law.
The Chief Justice said in his address that judicial education is not a one-time process; rather, it is a continuous process. In today’s era, where laws are rapidly evolving and society is facing new challenges, it is essential for us, as guardians of justice, to continuously enrich our knowledge and sharpen our judicial capacity. Continuous training ensures that we can fulfill our constitutional obligations with efficiency, integrity and sensitivity.
The Chief Justice further added that the Bastar region, with its unique socio-economic and cultural landscape, presents both challenges and opportunities for the judiciary. It is our duty that justice reaches every corner of the society, especially the deprived and weaker sections. The role of the judicial officers here is very important in maintaining the faith of the public and ensuring that justice is not only done, but also seen to be done.
The Chief Justice urged all the judicial officers to perform their judicial duties with empathy, patience and impartiality. Remember, behind every case there is a human story of struggle, hope and faith in the judiciary. We should always try to ensure that justice is delivered in a timely, transparent and reasoned manner.
In the end, the Chief Justice said that such seminars provide a valuable opportunity for deliberation on contemporary legal issues, exchange of experiences and adoption of best practices. The discussions held in this seminar will enhance the efficiency of the judicial officers and make them capable of handling the complexities of judicial work more efficiently.
In this program, the in-charge Registrar General of Chhattisgarh High Court, Registry Officer were connected through virtual medium. Judicial officers of the districts of Kanker, Kondagaon, Jagdalpur and Dantewada were present. The welcome speech was given by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Jagdalpur, the introductory address was given by the Director of Chhattisgarh State Judicial Academy and the vote of thanks was given by the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jagdalpur.
A total of 43 judicial officers of Bastar division participated in the seminar. Presentations were given by the participants regarding the observation of the proceedings of cases under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act and new tools and techniques for their disposal, the role of the referral judge in mediation, the execution of the decree, arrest and detention in civil jail and strategies for time-bound and effective enforcement through attachment of property, in-depth analysis of the provisions of remand and bail behind bars or free, with special reference to the latest judgments of the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
