
In a significant blow to Maoist insurgency, six Naxalites were gunned down by security forces during an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. The operation, initiated based on specific intelligence about the presence of key Naxalite leaders, took place in the Indravati National Park area. A joint team, comprising elite units like the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF), engaged the militants in a fierce gun battle that lasted for several hours. Following the exchange of fire, a meticulous search of the encounter site led to the discovery of six deceased Naxalites. The security forces also recovered a significant haul of automatic weapons, including an INSAS rifle, sten guns, a .303 rifle, and a substantial quantity of explosives. The area was further secured by additional forces to prevent any resurgence or escape. This successful operation underscores the state’s intensified efforts to combat Naxalism and is being hailed as a major achievement in restoring peace and security to the region.
