
The Bilaspur police have solved the mystery surrounding the murder of a temple priest, revealing that an extramarital affair led to the crime. The investigation revealed that the priest, Jageshwar Pathak, had an affair with a married woman. The woman’s husband, driven by rage, plotted the murder and carried it out. Police arrested the husband and four others, including a minor. The priest was lured to the site under the guise of a puja (religious ceremony) and subsequently attacked with a suspension pipe, leading to his death. The event took place on August 31st. The priest’s body was found at the Path Baba temple complex in the Takhatpur police station area. His head had been struck with a weapon. Upon receiving word of the murder, the police, along with a dog squad and a forensic team, arrived at the scene. Bilaspur SSP Rajnesh Singh also responded. Police interviewed family members and acquaintances, and the investigation took a turn when they discovered the priest’s affair. Suspects were detained, and the truth emerged. The police arrested Suresh, Hemkumar, Dhanraj, Mukesh, and a minor. The police swiftly apprehended the culprits within 24 hours.
