
A horrific accident marred the Ganesh Visarjan celebrations in Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, last night, as a speeding Bolero vehicle crashed into a procession, causing three fatalities and injuring 22 others. The incident occurred around 10 PM in the Juru Dand village, within the Bagicha police station area.
Large crowds were participating in the Ganesh Visarjan procession, heading towards a pond for the idol immersion when the Bolero suddenly plowed into the gathering. The driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the deaths of three individuals at the scene and injuries to numerous others. The public apprehended the driver and subjected him to physical assault, while other occupants of the vehicle fled after the accident.
The deceased have been identified as Arvind (19), Vipin Kumar Prajapati (17), and Khirowati Yadav (32). Twenty-two other people were injured, with several in critical condition.
The injured were quickly taken to a nearby community health center for immediate medical attention. Doctors provided treatment, and those with serious injuries were subsequently transferred to Ambikapur Medical College for specialized care. The deceased were taken for post-mortem examinations.
Upon receiving the news, Jashpur MLA Raymuni Bhagat visited the hospital to console the families of the injured and promised them all necessary support from the administration. District Collector Rohit Vyas and SSP Shashimohan Singh also arrived at the scene to assess the situation and gather details.
According to District SP Shashimohan, the Bolero driver was apprehended immediately after the incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause. Authorities are committed to providing medical assistance to the injured and ensuring that those responsible face appropriate consequences.
