The Ministry of Tourism does not directly undertake 100% centrally funded public-private partnership (PPP) projects under its existing schemes, including the Swadesh Darshan scheme. However, the Ministry evaluated project proposals submitted by state governments under its SASCI scheme (Special Assistance to States for Creating Iconic Tourist Sites). To encourage private sector participation in the tourism sector under the scheme, states were required to share potential PPP projects at selected tourist sites based on evaluation criteria. The implementation and monitoring of these projects are to be carried out by the respective state governments.
