Thirteen prominent Naxalites, with a total bounty of ₹23 lakh, have surrendered to security forces in Bijapur, marking a significant success in the ongoing efforts to combat Naxalism in Chhattisgarh. The surrendered Naxalites, some of whom had substantial individual rewards, have chosen to renounce violence and return to the mainstream.
The state government is focused on the rehabilitation and reintegration of these individuals, including skill development and opportunities for a better life. This move reflects the success of the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policies, fostering trust and promoting positive change within Naxal-affected regions. The goal, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is to completely eliminate Naxalism from Chhattisgarh and the rest of India by March 2026.
