
In a significant event held in Mainpat, Surguja district, Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated a newly installed Buddha statue, emphasizing the state’s commitment to Buddhist principles of love, peace, and compassion. During the ceremony, CM Sai highlighted the deep historical roots of Buddhist traditions within Chhattisgarh. He expressed his gratitude to the Tibetan community for organizing the event and acknowledged the numerous locations throughout the state where Lord Buddha is revered.
He also discussed the significance of Sirpur as a model of cultural inclusivity, where diverse religious traditions coexist harmoniously. CM Sai further reflected on the 90th birthday of the Dalai Lama, recognizing him as a beacon of Buddhist values and a source of inspiration worldwide. He mentioned that global leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have sent birthday wishes to the Dalai Lama, signifying the widespread influence of his teachings.
Focusing on tourism, the Chief Minister praised Mainpat’s natural beauty and cultural richness and affirmed the government’s dedication to enhancing its infrastructure. He highlighted the state’s commitment to tourism through the new industrial policy, providing incentives for home stay initiatives in areas like Mainpat.
Responding to requests from the Tibetan Cooperative Society, CM Sai sanctioned funds for infrastructure improvements: Rs 10 lakh for a CC road connecting Sela Resort to the Buddhist temple and Rs 20 lakh for a shed at the ancient Buddhist temple. The event also featured a tree planting and traditional Tibetan welcome ceremonies.
