
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated a new Buddha statue in Mainpat, Surguja district. The Chhattisgarh government is backing this with 30 lakh rupees worth of development projects, including road upgrades and temple facilities. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of Buddhist heritage in Chhattisgarh and said the government is committed to development inspired by Lord Buddha’s teachings on love, peace, and compassion. At the inauguration, CM Sai paid respects to the Buddha statue and prayed for the people’s well-being. He also acknowledged the Tibetan community’s invitation. He pointed to Sirpur as a site where Buddhist, Jain, and Sanatan traditions come together, showcasing Chhattisgarh’s diverse culture. He noted the global influence of Lord Buddha’s teachings, reflected in the greetings to the Dalai Lama from global leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chief Minister spoke about Mainpat’s tourism potential and the government’s focus on its development. He mentioned new incentives for homestay businesses in the area as part of the industrial policy. The Chief Minister also approved funding for a CC road and a temple shed, following a request from the Tibetan Cooperative Society. The event incorporated a tree-planting ceremony and a traditional Tibetan welcome. The community warmly greeted the CM, creating a festive atmosphere.
