In a heartbreaking case from Jagdalpur, a father has been convicted of sexually abusing his daughters. The court has sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine under the POCSO Act, following a legal battle that lasted for eighteen months.
The case came to light after the mother reported the father’s actions. The complaint stated that the man had been sexually assaulting his 12 and 14-year-old daughters and threatening them. The father’s mother, showing great bravery, reported the incidents to the police. The police subsequently filed a case against the accused under the POCSO Act and the relevant sections of the IPC.
After a lengthy trial, the Fast Track Court (FTC) Special Judge, Sangeeta Naveen, delivered the verdict. The court found that all charges were proven and that the actions were extremely damaging to both society and the family. The father received a sentence of rigorous imprisonment and a fine.
