In a move to strengthen medical education in the state, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, with the support of Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, has initiated significant changes to the medical admission rules. These reforms, applicable from the 2025 admission year, aim to improve access and opportunities for students pursuing MBBS, BDS, and BPT courses. The revisions include prioritizing Chhattisgarh residents for vacant seats in private medical colleges’ management and NRI quotas reserved for SC, ST, and OBC categories. The required bond service duration has been reduced, and the entire counseling procedure will now be conducted online, enhancing transparency and convenience. Simplifying income certificate requirements for the OBC category is another key change. Additionally, any unfilled seats in the EWS category will be offered to the unreserved category. The counseling process, guided by the new regulations, will commence on July 30, 2025, as confirmed by the Medical Education Department. These improvements signify the government’s commitment to facilitating a smoother and more equitable admission process for medical students in the state.
