The Chhattisgarh government, under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has launched a major crackdown on corruption, leading to the suspension of 22 excise officials. These actions are a direct response to the alleged involvement of these officials in the 3200 crore liquor scam that took place during the previous government’s term. The officials are accused of corruption and the illicit accumulation of wealth, estimated to be around 88 crore rupees. The government is taking strict measures to curb the sale of counterfeit liquor and also investigating the DMF scam, the Mahadev Satta App scam, and the tendu leaf scam, with further actions expected. The government is focused on ensuring transparent, accountable and honest governance. Procurement via the GEM portal is now mandatory and the state has introduced the e-office system and simplified the NOC process through the Single Window System 2.0.
