
The Chhattisgarh High Court marked its silver jubilee, with key figures emphasizing the need for accessible and modernized justice. Governor Rameen Deka asserted that the true value of the court lies in its ability to provide justice to all, particularly the underprivileged and those in rural areas. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring timely justice, backed by sufficient infrastructure and resources. A commemorative publication was released during the event. The silver jubilee celebrations were initiated with a lamp-lighting ceremony. High Court judges presented the Governor, Chief Minister, and Union Minister of State with gifts. The event was attended by several dignitaries including Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao, and Vijay Sharma, and other key government figures.
Governor Deka expressed his gratitude at being able to address the event, reflecting on the establishment of the High Court in 2000, when Chhattisgarh was formed. He highlighted the court’s crucial role as a protector of civil rights and a guardian of justice. He lauded the court’s efficiency in resolving pending cases through Lok Adalat and emphasized the need to minimize delays to expedite justice delivery.
Chief Minister Sai celebrated the joint silver jubilee of the state and the High Court, offering his congratulations. He paid tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, acknowledging his vision in establishing Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister also pointed out the government’s dedication to providing timely justice, highlighting budgetary increases for the Law and Legislative Department. He noted the growing interest of young people in the legal profession. He also highlighted Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to modernize the legal system, including the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and integration of forensic science. Supreme Court Justice JK Maheshwari underlined the importance of justice, dharma and the need for forward-thinking for the next 25 years. Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu praised the court’s contribution to upholding democracy. Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha delivered the welcome address, acknowledging the High Court’s achievements. The event saw the participation of numerous notable figures, including judges, lawyers, and government officials.
