
The Chhattisgarh High Court marked its silver jubilee with a ceremony that saw Governor Rame Deka stressing the need for justice to be accessible to all segments of society. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai reinforced the government’s commitment to ensuring justice is delivered promptly, supported by improvements in infrastructure and resource allocation. A commemorative souvenir was unveiled during the event. The function, held on Saturday, began with a ceremonial lighting of lamps. Governor Rame Deka, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, and other key figures were presented with mementos. Among those present were Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, Finance Minister OP Chaudhary, Law Minister Gajendra Yadav, and former Governor Ramesh Bais.
Governor Deka spoke of the significance of the High Court’s establishment in November 2000, coinciding with the creation of Chhattisgarh as a new state. He highlighted the role of the court in safeguarding civil liberties and upholding justice. The Governor commended the High Court’s use of Lok Adalats to expedite case resolutions. Chief Minister Sai spoke on the occasion of the silver jubilee of the High Court, along with the state’s Legislative Assembly, and offered his congratulations. He also acknowledged the contributions of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in establishing the state and the High Court. The Chief Minister also mentioned the government’s focus on increasing the budget for the Law and Legislative Department, and the growing interest in law as a profession.
Supreme Court Justice JK Maheshwari spoke of the importance of dharma and ethical conduct in the pursuit of justice. Central Minister Tokhan Sahu acknowledged the High Court’s role in upholding the constitution and democracy. Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha gave the welcome address, recognizing the milestones achieved by the court. Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal delivered the vote of thanks. The event saw the presence of numerous dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Ministers, ministers, judges, legal professionals, and other prominent figures.
