
Raipur, November 19, 2025/Chhattisgarh has created a new history at the national level with 12 districts – Raipur, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Rajnandgaon, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Dhamtari, Balod, Balrampur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Durg, and Surajpur – achieving significant accomplishments in the field of water conservation and community participation. These districts were honored by the President Smt. Draupadi Murmu at the 6th National Water Awards and Water Conservation Public Participation 1.0 Award ceremony held yesterday at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai and through sensitive administrative efforts, Chhattisgarh has gained special recognition across the country in the direction of water conservation. In the last two years, the innovative efforts and public participation of the state government have achieved new dimensions in water conservation. The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the citizens and district administrations of these districts. He said that the awakening among people towards water conservation will promote the proper use of water. The Chief Minister said that this award will be inspirational in securing the water future of the state.
Raipur district has been honored for excellent work in the water conservation public participation campaign. Raipur Municipal Corporation secured the first position among municipal corporations across the country, while Raipur district ranked third in the East Zone Category 01. Raipur district and Municipal Corporation together made community participation a comprehensive campaign for water conservation. Raipur Municipal Corporation carried out 33,082 works, and the district administration completed 36,282 works.
Rajnandgaon district secured the first position in the National Water Award under the East Zone and the second position in the public participation category 01, and was awarded an incentive amount of Rs 2 crore. Here, 58,967 water conservation works were completed through public participation. Balod district secured the first position in Category 01 for best performance, along with an incentive amount of Rs 2 crore. Here, 92,742 new water structures were constructed.
Mahasamund district has been honored for the first position in Category 2. Here, 35,182 water structures have been constructed. Balodabazar-Bhatapara district secured the second position under Category 2 and was awarded a prize money of Rs 1 crore as an incentive. Here, 30,927 structures have been constructed. Gariaband district secured the third position in the country in Category-2 and received an amount of Rs 1 crore as an incentive. Here, 26,025 works for the better maintenance of surface water have been carried out.
Bilaspur secured the first position in Category 03 and received a prize money of Rs 25 lakh as an incentive. Here, 21,058 water structures have been constructed. Durg district secured the 16th position in Category-03 and was given an incentive amount of Rs 25 lakh. Here, 5010 water conservation projects have been constructed. Balrampur district was honored for the 6th position in Category-03 and received an incentive amount of Rs 25 lakh. Here, 8644 water conservation projects have been constructed.
Dhamtari district was honored for the 8th position in Category 3 and received an incentive amount of Rs 25 lakh. Here, 7674 water conservation projects have been constructed. Raigarh district was honored for the second position in Category 3 and received an incentive amount of Rs 25 lakh. Here, 19,088 water conservation projects have been constructed. Surajpur district was honored for the 12th position in Category 3 and received an incentive amount of Rs 25 lakh, and here, 5797 water conservation projects have been constructed.
